Abstract
Background : Using the Mongolian Gerbil global ischemic model, this study examined the down and up pattern of core temperature by cool ins method.

Method : These models were divided into general whole body cooling method and selective cool ins method. General whole body cool ins method group were subdivided into ice and ice plus water group. Core temperature was checked rectal temperature by digital thermometer. Brain temperature was checked right tympanic membrane indirectly.

Result : 1. In general whole body cooling method, core temperature rapidly was downed from 36.8¡É to 26.4¡É within 3 minite. With removal cooling method, recovery time was taken average 43 minite. In ice plus water method, down time and temperature were examined same result above method (ice only), but recovery time was taken 130 minite.
2. In selective brain cool ins method, core temperature is downed from 36.5¡É to 31. 9¡É within 10 minite. With removal cool ins method, recovery time was taken average 70 minite.

Conclusion : We suggests that selective brain cool ins method is safe modality to be downed temperature.
